Acupuncture:
- Stimulates nerves
- Increases blood flow
- Relieves muscle spasms
- Decreases inflammation and pain
- Causes the body to release endorphins (natural painkillers) and other compounds which help to modulate pain control and other physiologic functions (like blood flow or lymph drainage).
- Balances the body and assists the body to heal by releasing various regulatory chemical which may result in physiological changes
Low Level Light Therapy/Cold Laser:
- Single color red/infrared light
- Mitochondria (cell energy producers) absorb light leading to increased cellular energy production, improved cell function and healing with less scar tissue formation
- Decreases tissue swelling
- Increased blood vessel activity resulting in immune cell migration to the site of injury – promotes healing
- Nerve stimulation; can reduce numbness in affected areas
- Alters pain threshold
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF):
- Improves cell oxygen use which is important in delayed healing and arthritic conditions
- Stimulates cell growth and cartilage healing
Neuromuscular Electrostimulation (NMES):
- Electrical stimulation of muscles at motor points leads to muscle contractions
- Supports increase in muscle tone (or maintain tone) and mass in patients that cannot exercise
Passive Range of Motion Exercises:
- Movement of joint(s) through flexion and extension to increase joint mobility, flexibility, comfort and prevent loss of muscle tone during periods of decreased limb function
Heat Therapy:
- Increases blood flow
- Decreases pain
- Reduces muscle spasm
- Aids soft tissue elasticity
Acoustic Compression Therapy (Shockwave):
- Uses high pressure sound wave directed at target tissues to decrease pain and improve healing in tendons and for other musculoskeletal issues
- Useful for joint pain, muscle strains, bone healing
Therapeutic Ultrasound:
- Uses sound waves to warm tendons, muscles and other tissues to improve blood flow and accelerate healing
- Can be used to decrease scar tissue
- May help with pain control
- Can be used to help with non-healing fractures
Veterinary Medical Manipulation:
- Equivalent to the human form of chiropractic medicine.
- Includes a motion palpation assessment and gentle manipulation of the skeletal system and its associated soft tissue, tendons, ligaments, and neural input to improve performance of the musculoskeletal system and overall health.
- VMM is not just about restoring proper skeletal alignment, but it addresses muscle trigger points and involves myofascial release to influence the whole anatomy train.
- VMM adjustment may including Reiki, cranial-sacral therapy, soft tissue massage, muscle testing, and traction stretching.
